We finally landed an apprenticeship at Morty Sorty’s world-famous Magic Shop and are tackling our first task there: sorting incoming ingredients sensibly onto three shelves. All we have to do is follow the ascending number sequence on the jars; otherwise, we have free rein. However, we want to shine with a well-thought-out arrangement and earn plenty of prestige.
The basic task is simple, but quickly shows additional constraints. . We constantly have to decide whether we’d rather place this or that ingredient on our shelves and which options we want to keep open for the future. Different scoring rules create a welcome variability.

The clear objective of “Morty Sorty Magic Shop” is easily understood. As the game progresses, the existing temptations—combined with the existing constraints— offer a special appeal. Whether the ingredients land face-up or face-down on the table is a matter of chance, adding an interesting element of luck. The overall gameplay is just as compelling as the lovingly designed components.
