Imhotep

Imhotep

Four monuments for the ages must be built. Pyramids, a temple, a series of obelisks and a burial chamber. Because the master builder Imhotep isn’t here at the moment, the players need to look after his projects. First of all, the stones need to be shipped in and then arranged to score the most points. They can be traded for useful tools or embellishments. On their turn, each player has the choice of either loading up one of the boats or sending a boat to a building site, where all players, in order, unload their stones and use them to build. Good timing, tactical decisions and a bit of luck are needed for the stones – represented by big, chunky wooden cubes – to end up where you want them to.

Jury statement
Caution, construction site! When players work together and compete at the same time to build ancient Egyptian monuments out of chunky wooden cubes, it’s a real spectacle: obelisks, pyramids, the burial chamber and the temple grow as three-dimensional eye-catching sculptures. The refined tactical mechanics with constant tricky decisions, alongside the thematically-appropriate components, come together from out of the desert sands to form a well-rounded and exciting family game.
