Der Kartograph (Cartographers)

Der Kartograph (Cartographers)

The royal cartographers have a year to reclaim the unexplored northern lands. The queen has given clear objectives for this task. She gives the players a total of four edicts per game, demanding for instance that they are on the lookout for forest paths between mountain ranges or well-irrigated farmlands. Easier said than done, as a randomly drawn explorer card determines which terrain type and shape the players are allowed to draw on their maps. As the game unfolds there is an ever-increasing threat of danger: some strategically important areas are suddenly revealed to be infested with trolls. Who can overcome these obstacles to meet the ever-changing wishes of Her Majesty?

With sharpened quills the cartographers are sketching the blueprints for their landscape, creating playful little works of art which could serve as a basis for your next role-playing adventure. Players experience this voyage of discovery without the burden of any heavy game mechanics: there is a total clarity to the structure of “Cartographers” but it still leaves room for a variety of tactics. The variable combination of royal objectives means you will need a different strategy for every game.
